“The best thing about working in R&D is that you get to design the product right from the start.
You start with 100 grams on the lab bench and three years later you see it fly off the factory lines in the finished packaging.
As a graduate I think that RB has
supported my career and ambitions because they give you the opportunity to three placements over the course of two years so you get to see a really wide breadth of the type of R&D that we do...”
Living and Working in Hull
‘There’s quite a European influence in Hull. You get a whiff of the Benelux countries in the gables and the way some of the houses are built. The centre of Hull is really attractive because the water comes right into the heart of town. There is major investment going into Hull’s future and over the years the former docks have been regenerated and now house shopping, leisure, and residential developments’.
John Godber, playwright.
This is an area of thriving metropolitan cities and beautiful countryside with a magnificent coastline.
This oft forgotten part of the UK has something to offer whether you prefer urban or rural living. Wherever you choose to live it is unlikely that you will have far to commute and you will find big city life, historic market towns, picturesque villages and peaceful countryside within easy reach.
Hull
Hull is a unique city with a proud maritime heritage. Although retaining links to its historical past the city has seen major investment into regeneration and the recent boom in city living has attracted substantial new investment and with it a cosmopolitan infrastructure of cafe bars, restaurants, shops, entertainment and business facilities.
In addition to more traditional Victorian Avenues and 1930's suburbs there are modern apartments and residential developments along the waterfront and around the hub of the attractive Marina.
Princes Quay is the main shopping centre and the recently opened St Stephen’s was one of the UK’s biggest inner city shopping regenerations. Attractions include The Deep, which is the world's only submarium and has had more than three million visitors through its doors since it opened in 2002. For those interested in the beautiful game, then the big news here is Hull City's recent promotion to the Premiership League. It is a great achievement for the club and a wonderful opportunity for the city and region.
Beverley and East Yorkshire
20 minutes away from the city of Hull you will find the medieval market town of Beverley with its magnificent gothic minster, narrow cobbled streets, racecourse and excellent schools. In addition to a being a tourist attraction, it’s a great place to live. In its ‘affordable affluence study’ the Royal Bank of Scotland named Beverley as "the best place to live in Britain".
The countryside of the Wolds is picturesque with historic market towns, traditional farming villages, rolling hills and fields.
Scarborough and North Yorkshire
A thriving coastal town, with breathtaking local scenery Scarborough is an inspirational place to live and work. It is one of the most beautiful areas in the country to live and work with miles of coastline, busy seaside resorts, market towns, rural villages a national park and scenery made famous by famous TV programmes such as ‘Heartbeat'
